Volunteer Skill Requirements: • Patience, enthusiasm, and respect for other cultures. • Dependability and flexibility. • Spanish speaking skills and teaching experience helpful, but not required.

Responsibilities: • Help with activities conducted in class • Assist in a multi-level ESL class for low-wage immigrant workers. Help the teacher with language learning activities by working with small groups of students. • Commitment to volunteer in the great majority of Saturday classes offered for the 3-month duration of the course.

When: Saturdays 11am to 1pm. Classes will begin February 9th and run through June 1st.

Where: SEIU-USWW Office - 3411 E. 12th St., Suite 200, Oakland, CA (in the plaza off the Fruitvale BART stop).

Benefits: As a volunteer at BSP you will receive training and acquire skills in teaching ESL, gain knowledge about the issues facing newcomer families, and learn about the social services and other resources available to immigrants and low-wage workers in the Bay Area counties.
