We are seeking dance lovers to serve on the board of Jazz Choreography Enterprises (JCE). Founded in 2007, JCE is dedicated to keeping the great American art of jazz dance thriving. We produce the New York Jazz Choreography Project, a semiannual dance concert featuring original works of jazz dance created by emerging and established choreographers. These dance concerts give jazz dance artists the opportunity to show their work in front of live audiences. Audiences have the opportunity to see high-quality performances of jazz dance, an art form that developed along with jazz music and is an important—and often overlooked—part of America's heritage. We also offer educational opportunities for audiences and dance artists and produce outreach performances.

The board meets four to six times a year and communicates by email. Board members are expected to take an active role in fundraising and to assist in the running of JCE.

Responsibilities include:

  • Attending board meetings in person
  • Fundraising – participating in donation appeals and special events
  • Building support for JCE and its mission
  • Evaluating the running of the organization and programs
  • Attending performances and events to assist as needed
  • Donating annually to JCE – the amount isn't important, but having 100% board support is

  • Law (especially non-profit)
  • Social media
