Title: Traveler Outing Guide
Overview: Organizing group excursions helps hostellers meet other travelers and see a little more of the area than they may be able to do on their own; helping to conserve travelers' resources (planning time, public transit info etc.)
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a group of hostellers to an event or point of interest in the local area.
- Speak about specific points of interest.
Initial Impact:
- Add a local perspective to the guest experience.
- Provide a fun activity for hostellers.
Sustainable Outcome:
- Be part of HI-USA's ongoing effort to open our local community to travelers, highlighting our unique history and culture.
- Strengthen our repertoire of fun and exciting group activities offered to guests on a regular basis.
Training and Support:
- Orientation on programs and activities provided by HI-Chicago.
- Training on group facilitation skills.
- Attend at least one HI-Chicago Outing to observe process and techniques.
- Relevant materials provided (ex. directions).
- Reports to designated HI-Chicago Community Liaison.
Qualifications:
- Interest in helping hostellers better understand our community.
- Interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
- Interest in public speaking, history, and culture.
Time Commitment:
- Minimum of 10 hours per month for six months.
- Outings can be scheduled morning, afternoon & evenings (seven days a week).
- Consult with designated HI-Chicago Community Liaison for scheduling.
