ACC's Safari Thrift Workplace Training Program provides employment and job-skills training to adult refugees in two tracks: janitorial and retail. Volunteer Assistant Trainers are responsible for teaching two-hour training sessions to groups of adult students. Classes take place both in a traditional classroom environment and out in the store, using the real workplace as a learning center. Assistant Trainers work closely with the Employment Training Program Coordinator and other volunteers to coordinate delivery of the curriculum, track student progress, and to offer feedback on the curriculum for future improvement. Volunteers also help model appropriate workplace behavior and serve as resources for newly arrived refugee participants.
A new 8-week training session just began Monday, February 4, so let us know if you'd like to join in!
Training sessions run from 9:30-3:30pm, Monday thru Friday. Volunteers would need to be able to commit to at least one of the sessions (9:30-12:30pm or 1:00-3:pm) at least one day per week.
Please email the Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@acc-den.org. You will need to fill out an application, attend an orientation and complete a background check.
