Having a solid foundation from the pre-school system of education builds a child for the elementary level. Children are considered the fundamentals for the future growth of a Nation. And the strength and growth of a Nation depends on the integrity of its home. To build a strong future begins from the pre-school level. You can make a difference and leave everlasting footprints here.
The organization undertakes this program in collaboration with Child Development Institutions or centers in the Volta Region of Ghana. Children are attracted to school by the presence of volunteers, and your presence also is a proven moral booster for parents and the limited teachers as well as a great inspiration for students. Inexperienced and experienced volunteers can teach vocabulary, assist with pronunciation and support students as they practice speaking English.
This is a type of program which involves a lot of creativity and patience. The main teaching activity and curriculum is Pre-school program. These kids are between the ages of 2-5 years and are just beginning to pick up the local and English language. You need patience to deal with them and you must be someone who love kids and at the same time caring. The benefit of teaching this age group is that it helps eliminate the fear and shyness often felt by children regarding speaking. The main schools curricula are Language and Literacy, Environmental studies, Creative activities (Music, dance and art), Physical development, psychosocial skills and Math.
Orientation will be provided prior to starts of work. Volunteers work with experienced and non-experienced teachers. Your role as a volunteer will be leading your own class and depending your personal scheme of work. Your placement is completely dependent upon your level of comfort within the classroom. Your application should also state the category of children you prefer teaching (e.g. pre-school etc).
Teaching hours are weekdays (Monday-Fridays), from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm. Volunteers are asked to commit to 30 hours a week.
In addition to an attractive program package includes the following;
