Early Child Development Volunteer Opportunity

If you are looking for a more meaningful way to spend your time volunteering can be a wonderdful experience. Whether you feel you have a lot or little to share, you will certainly develop new skills through varied activities and working with local people, and contribute to lasting change. There will be plenty of opportunities to be creative, use your initiative absorb the local culture.

About the Placement: Our organisation, HOPEmalawi (find out more at www,hopemalawi.com) based in Nkhata Bay on the northern shores of Lake Malawi, is seeking dedicated and energetic volunteers to assist in its on-going community based projects. Volunteers should ideally be experience in Early Child Development, as the work will involve working in partnership with the local school/nursery, teaching lessons, training local volunteer teachers and assisting with a Community Education program. This position is suitable for a couple, one or two individual volunteers and offers basic accommodation in Nkhata Bay at minimal cost, as well as the opportunity to become involved with many other rewarding projects. Teaching in a local nursery is positive and empowering but when you go home your skills go with you. If however you can also train, teach and share your knowledge will local people, the new skills learned continue to sustain progress long after your stay. That is a great legacy.

Role of Volunteer: Volunteers would be expected to work for approximately 5 hours per day in tandem with local teachers and HOPE-malawi staff. Much of the work is aimed at improving the education and opportunities for pre-school children as well as passing on teaching skills to the community.The work will, in itself be challenging but incredibly rewarding.
