Volunteer Opportunity description

Every four years the national network of food banks, Feeding America, conducts a study on charitable food assistance services for people in need. Food banks in the network conduct the study within their service area, which for the NH Food Bank is the state of NH. The purpose of the study is to better understand the agencies we work with to provide hunger relief and the clients that receive their services.

We would be delighted if you would join us in making this the most comprehensive Hunger in America Study to date. As a volunteer data collector, you would have the opportunity to take part in the following activities:

  1. Attend a volunteer training (TBA)
  2. Travel to program sites to conduct data collection
  3. Explain the Hunger in America 2014 study
  4. Set up tablets at the program sites
  5. Access the client survey for self-administration by clients
  6. Address questions during survey administration
  7. Give clients an incentive (provided by NH Food Bank)
  8. Thank clients for their participation

If you are interested in volunteering with us, please contact kfarias@nhfoodbank.org, or find more information on our website www.nhfoodbank.org

Please note:

  • Volunteers must be at least 18 years old
  • Volunteers should have reliable transportation, although opportunities for carpooling with other volunteers might be available.
  • Volunteers should be able to carry equipment and supplies at collection sites
