VOLUNTEER / INTERNSHIP

This program provides volunteers with work placements in Community Projects Small Scale Industries Public Institutions Non-governmental organisation (NGOS) in South Africa, Ghana, Benin, Togo, Senegal, Mali, Botswana, Tanzania, The Gambia, Uganda, Malawi, Kenya and Swaziland.

This program provides students or non students, professionals and non professionals with hands-on-experience and helps them to see and understand more about different culture in Africa.Most often these participants are placed with host family. There is an option for individual dwelling. STAESA has very strong partnership arrangements with institutions in South Africa and other African countries in a wide range of fields.

MEDIA PROGRAM

THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO EXPOSE YOU TO AFRICA TYPES OF MEDIA WORK AND TO GIVE MORE INSIGHT ABOUT MEDIA WORK IN GENERAL FOR FURTHER STUDIES OR WORK PROMOTION.

Our media program exposes you to investigative journalism work in Africa. STAESA media program supports and promote on the job training aimed at current or future media professionals.

Interns get the opportunity to work with newspapers, magazines and radio stations. Not only does the program expose interns to the unique nature of media work in Africa, it also gives you an opportunity to gain more experience in programming, production, recording, research, reporting, and much more. Meeting and talking to friendly people including celebrities in Africa make you feel really at home and have lots of fun. Interns will be scheduled for all the departments at the radio station to enable you have a feel of what happens in these departments.

PROGRAM ACTIVITIES INCLUDE: JOURNALISM,REPORTING, RESEARCH, DESIGNING, PRODUCTION,LAYOUT,PHOTOGRAPHY, ADMINISTRATIVE WORK AND MARKETING SKILLS.

ORPHANAGE PROGRAM

This is an opportunity to work with both orphans in an orphanage.

This is the time you give back to the orphans in Africa, meet the people and see the beautiful country. Activities at the orphanage vary. It is very interesting having lots of orphans all around you, touching and holding you just to express their gratitude having you with them. Your presence really let them know that they are loved. To be able to work and have fun with these lovely children, you must really like children and understand the situation of these little poor orphans. Sure you can! From the first day you arrive on the program till you leave back home, we will always be there for you. Project location very safe, Communities very welcoming and the kids are very lovely and kind to work with.

The program provides you a great opportunity to work very closely with children of ages between months old to 17 years. The total number of the kids at the orphanage is 33. There orphanage really need help.

PROGRAM ACTIVITIES: TEACHING THE ORPHANS BASIC CONVERSATIONALENGLISH, MATHS AND HELPING THE ORPHANS WITH THEIR HOME WORK, PLAY GAMES, TEACH MUSIC, AND ADMINISTRATION WORK IN THE ORPHANAGE

OTHER ACTIVITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:HELPING CLEANING THE ORPHANAGE, HELPING IN THE KITCHEN, HELPING IN ORGANIZING TRIPS WITH THE ORPHANS, RENOVATION WORK IN THE ORPHANAGE AND FUND RAISING ACTIVITIES.

THE AIMS OF THE ORPHANAGE PROJECT ARE: (1) TO LET THE KIDS KNOW THAT SOME ONE LIKE YOU CARE FOR THEM. (2) TO HELP YOU AS A VOLUNTEERS GIVE BACK TO THE ORPHANAGES YOUR SERVICES. (3) TO PROVIDE THE ORPHANAGE THE NECESSARY EDUCATION NEEDED (4) TO BRING LOVE TO THE CHILDREN (5) TO PROVIDE FOOD FOR THE ORPHAN (6) TO PROVIDE SHELTER FOR THE ORPHANS (7) TO BRING SMILES INTO THE FACES OF THE ORPHANS (8) TO MAKE A GREAT DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF THE ORPHANS

HEALTH PROGRAM:

THIS PROGRAM IS FOR BOTH INTERNS AND VOLUNTEERS WHERE PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS ARE MUCH INVOLVED IN THE ACTIVITIES IN THE HOSPITAL. THIS IS HAND-ON EXPERIENCE PROGRAM. FROM THE FIRST DAY OF YOUR ARRIVAL IN THE HOSPITAL TILL YOU LEAVE BACK HOME YOU WILL ALWAYS BE LEARNIG NEW THINGS WHILE HANDLING SCHEDULE S WITH A MENTOR. THE PROGRAM ALLOWS PARTICIPANTS AN OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE DIRECT CONTACT WITH THE PATIENTS AND WORK CLOSELY WITH MEDICAL DOCTOR IN CHARGE. THE PROGRAM WELL ORGANIZED THAT, YOU ALWAYS HAVE A MENTOR AROUND YOU FOR QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS. THE HOSPITALS ARE DIRE NEED OF VOLUNTEERS AND INTERNS TO HELP. THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY WHERE NOT ONLY DO YOU GIVE HELP IN THE HOSPITAL YOU ALSO GET TO LEARN A LOT ABOUT HEALTH ACTIVITIES. ARE YOU MEDICAL STUDENTS? ARE PLANING TO FURTHER YOUR EDUCATION IN THE MEDICAL SCHOOL? OR DO YOU JUST WANT TO HAVE A FEEL OF HOSPITAL WORK? THIS IS THE PROGRAM FOR YOU. THERE IS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE AND YOU DONT WANT TO MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY. THE ACTIVITY IN THE HOSPITAL VARIES. GENERALLY YOU WILL BE SCHEDULED TO WORK IN THE OUT PATIENTS DEPARTMENT, FEMALE WARD AND MALE WARD, LABOR WARD AND CHILDREN WARD, SURGICAL WARD AND OPERATION THEATRE. YOU WILL ALSO BE ROTATED TO HELP IN THE PHARMACY AND LABORATORY. COME AND MEET OTHER VOLUNTEERS FROM OTHER COUNTRIES.

EVERYONE CAN JOIN THIS PROGRAM. YOU DONT HAVE TO BE A PREFESSIONAL TEACHER TO JOIN THIS PROGRAM. THE SCHOOLS ARE IN DIRE NEED OF VOLUNTEERS AND INTERNS TO HELP. THE PROGRAM GIVES YOU AN OPPORTUNITY TO GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY, GET YOURSELF IMMERSED IN TO THE CULTURE OF THE PEOPLE AND HAVE LOTS, LOTS OF FUN. THE PROGRAM IS IN BOTH RURAL AND URBAN COMMUNITIES. THERE IS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE TO DO. JOIN US TO PUT A SMILE ON THE FACES OF THESE KIDS. YOU CAN ALSO HELP BY DONATING BOOKS, MONEY FOR THE FURNITURES, MONEY TO FIX THE FLOORS, WINDOWS AND THE DOORS.

ACTIVITIES IN THE SCHOOL INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: TEACHING BASIC MATHS, ENGLISH, SCIENCE, MUSIC, ARTS, SPORTS AND SOME ADIMINISTRATION WORK.

ALL PLACEMENTS ARE IN URBAN AND RURAL COMMUNITIES

COACHING – FOOTBALL, BASKET BALL AND HANDBALL

STAESA physical training program is designed to include students, trainers, retired footballers, physiotherapist and one with OR without coaching skills. Participants will be working with local sports teams (running teams, local football teams, local basket team, and volley ball team) in communities. The program is also extended to schools and orphanages. This program aimed at strengthening physical training programs in schools/orphanages/communities, taking kids from the streets, showcasing the talents of children in the communities, organizing football games to support campaign against drug abuse, child abuse, women abuse, child trafficking, strengthen and develop programs to bring the orphanages in the communities together in sports activities. The orphanages are side lined when it comes to sports programs. STAESA will like to bring the kids in the orphanages into limelight. The program will also be used as a hub of sports men and women where the national sports council can tap for qualify sports men and women. STAESA the initiators of this project have become aware of an increase in circumstances of abuse, trafficking and neglect involving children in the communities and their surrounding villages. STAESA felt the need to use this program to provide services to such communities, which would help decrease or alleviate the strain on social services as well on the victims and their families. The program also gives you an opportunity to create your own activities to get the kids in the community involved. The program is organized to give you a choice to work with kids in either in the schools or in the orphanage or in the communities.

WOMEN AND DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

WOMEN/YOUTH PROJECT

STAESA Youth/women project has over the years support both the unemployed youth and women to be gainfully employed and economically independent. The aim of the project is to alleviate poverty, to create jobs in the communities, to formulate ideas that will help both the youth and women physically, spiritually and economically to enable them to break the cycle of poverty. Life is really hard in these communities and women and youth are the most affected. It's very difficult for the communities' members to afford good meals a day and live a good.

You will be introduced to existing poverty alleviation projects which is at its very grass root or an opportunity for you to create a new poverty alleviation project. The program include job creation, create micro-finance project, assist in organizing and executing trainings including computer training for the youth and the women in the community, networking program, HIV/AIDS public educational program.

ACTIVITIES INCLUDE: GAME: BASKET BALL OR SOCCER, RESEARCH WORK, FUND RAISING ACTIVITIES, MOTIVATIONAL TALKS, DEVELOPING ECONOMICAL AND SOCIAL PROGRAMS, TRAINING PROGRAMS

Once Students Travel And Exposure South Africa (STAESA) receives your email, we will reply back with answers to your questions. We then refer you to our website www.staesa.org for the application form or we will email the application form to you.

Step 2

Complete the application form and submit the hard copy through the post and email us the same completed application form at
