Become a volunteer literacy tutor with Literacy Volunteers of America and make a difference in someone's life. LVA trains adult volunteers to assist other adults in basic reading, writing, and/or speaking English. We offer volunteers a free 18-hour tutor training workshop and then pair you with an adult student. We are always in need of volunteer tutors as we have many students eagerly awaiting instruction. Share your gift of literacy! Prior teaching experience or knowledge of another language is not necessary, just the desire to help another. To become a tutor, choose one workshop location and attend all sessions. The South Orange Public Library workshop at 65 Scotland Rd. will be held on Feb. 9, 16, 23, Mar. 2, 2013 from 10am-2:30pm. The Montclair Public Library workshop at 50 S. Fullerton Rd. will be held on Feb. 13, 20, 27, Mar. 6, 13, 20, 2013 from 10:30am-1:30pm. The Bloomfield Public Library workshop will be held on Mar. 8, 13, 15, 20, 22, 27, 2013 from 1-4pm.
