On our Women's Empowerment program in Mombasa, volunteers work alongside our local team to support approx. 300 women around the community. This involves supporting women with HIV/AIDS and their families. Assisting with self-sustaining activities such as gardening, farming, jewellery making and running a local posho mill. Volunteers will be involved in home visits, assisting with trips to hospitals and doctors, working in the fields and can also develop any self-sustaining ideas they have with the women.
It is important to remember that on this program, volunteers will be working with extremely vulnerable women in the community and visiting areas of Mombasa such as the slums. You will be working closely with our local staff and community leaders to improve situations for many underprivileged women.
Volunteers on this program will have the opportunity to have a direct impact on the quality of life of many Kenyan women, and to make a lasting change on their futures.
This program is available in Mombasa only (see Details page for location information). Accommodation will be either in a home-stay or volunteer house, depending on demand at the time.
