Farm to School: Harvest of the Month

Posted on: November 7, 2012

Posted by: Community Alliance with Family Farmers

Description

Volunteers have the opportunity to learn about the agricultural industry by helping to pack Harvest of the Month kits. Our Harvest of the Month kits reach 600 plus classrooms throughout the Central Coast (over 23,000 students), highlighting farmers, their produce, and fresh fruits and vegetables! Build friendships, your local food system, (and even your resume) - while having fun!Let's work together to spread knowledge, and genuinely get students stoked on eating fresh, delicious, and yes, oh so nutritious fruits and veggies. Each tasting kit contains enough samples of each variety (2-3) for all of the students in the class to try the highlighted fruit or vegetable. September we packed tomatoes, October it was pears, November we have cabbage..want to help us in future months? We cannot do this without you!
