Volunteer Opportunity description

ESL conversation facilitators lead a minimum of one 1-2 hour ESL conversation session(s) per week with small groups of adult learners. (Openings Wednesday and/or Thursday, 5-6pm). During the session, ESL facilitators are expected to help participants practice their English skills by engaging them in "everyday life" types of conversations (for example, talking about American culture, catching the bus, going grocery shopping, or talking on the phone) and simply helping participants feel more comfortable speaking English. ESL Conversation Facilitators must be currently working towards a Bachelor's Degree from Columbia University or have already earned a Bachelor's Degree from another university. Sessions are conducted in English – there are no other language requirements. Facilitators must be able to commit to the entire semester, which runs from September 21 to December 15th 2011
