Volunteer Opportunity description

Do you remember your favorite books when you were a child? There are probably too many to count! The choice a child makes in choosing her or his favorite book is one of the first ways of establishing each unique personality and a love of words. The world becomes theirs to explore. Faces without Places is committed to breaking down barriers to education for children experiencing homelessness and lack of access to books and one on reading time outside of school is one of those barriers. Spend an hour and a half once or twice a week helping kids who are in transition with their reading comprehension and introduce them to wonderful characters and stories. The aim of the volunteers will be to make reading fun and help kids to feel that they are supported in both their growth and their struggles. There are different locations, days and times to choose from, so contact Megan and she will be happy to help you figure out the logistics that will suit your needs and help you be the most effective reader for our kids!
