Volunteer Opportunity description

About Us

The Nanubhai Education Foundation (501c3) is passionately committed to transforming public education in rural India. Founded in 2004, we are dedicated to increasing access to higher education and English skill-building opportunities for students in rural India. We work to encourage both teachers and students to achieve excellence in the classroom, and to use their enhanced English skills to fully participate in India's ever-growing economy.

About the Position

We look for passionate, flexible people with some training or experience in education who are available either from June to October or from December to May.

Educators teach a Spoken English class for advanced students, organize a conversation hour for teachers and regularly visit classrooms to present supplementary lessons that engage students and model western teaching techniques. We also strongly encourage Educators to develop and implement a passion project of their own.

What are passion projects? They are an opportunity to take your personal interests and skills and utilize them to add additional value to the school community. Previous passion projects have included organizing the student lending library, conducting a professional development workshop for the teachers, starting the teacher's conversation hour and planning a student "fashion show."

First round Educators will arrive on May 29th, 2014 and teach at their partner site until October 17th, 2014.

Second round Educatorswill be expected to arrive in India on November 12th, 2014 and teach until March 26th, 2015.

These dates are approximate and may change slightly, depending on the school calendar of the partner site where the Fellow is placed.
