position summary:Volunteers in the Featured Exhibits Hall share science in the context of a regularly changing exhibit. Volunteers facilitate science demonstrations and activities and answer visitors' questions about the exhibit. Because of the changing nature of the hall, duties may vary considerably. This is a limited duration position for our Space exhibit, ending January 8, 2017.
essential duties and responsibilities:
Facilitate space themed activities and demonstrations for different age groups, ranging from arts and crafts to physics and engineering.
Rotate through stations managing the exhibit introduction video as well as the space shuttle lab module.
Interact with visitors to help them explore and learn from the Space exhibit.
Assist educators during classes as classroom aides.
Assist staff in the development, safety, and maintenance of the hall.
This hall provides an exciting, evolving and changing environment. Volunteers will be able to enjoy OMSI and science from an insider's perspective!
Skillful in facilitating use of exhibits and translating scientific information age-appropriately.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Able to maintain a calm, pleasant, and cheerful demeanor in a variety of atmospheres.
Able to listen and communicate with people of diverse backgrounds and age levels.
Dependable and punctual.
Self-directed and willing to take initiative.
Must present a professional appearance.
Willing to follow OMSI rules and procedures.

Admission for the volunteer to the museum, theater and planetarium shows, and submarine tours.
