Centro Psicopedagógico de Catamayo freely welcomes disabled children for educational and play activities and for speech therapy sessions.
Description of volunteer position The Center of Catamayo offers courses to disabled children. These schools are run by Dr. Ernan Castillo, who specializes in education for disabled children and psychosocial rehabilitation. The children also need to attend speech therapy courses to improve their diction. Unfortunately, in Ecuador, few people have these skills.

Perform speech therapy tailored to the individual needs of children on the premises of the foundation and surrounding communities to get close to children who are unable to move.
Educate parents and give them basic knowledge of exercises or tips to practice the language with their children in order to stimulate them on a daily basis.
• Objectives of the mission :
Propose additional care from the foundation by utilizing specific skills of the volunteer.

6 months, for the period of September to June

30 hours, 5 days a week

Therapy sessions will be held every morning, depending on the number of children and their needs. The time of attendance and travel in the surrounding communities will be determined in collaboration with members of the association.

Patience, the volunteer should be willing to work with disabled children.
Financial conditions
- Costs covered by the association:
If the volunteer wishes, a room may be arranged in the school. The Center will provide lunch from September to June.

Transportation costs to the association and personal expenses. The school is located near the city center. It is possible to reach it by foot or taxi ($1).
