Tomorrow's Leaders NYC, Inc. (TLNYC) is a non-profit organization is to help over-age middle school students overcome social, emotional, and academic challenges and become positive and productive leaders of their community. An over-age student is one who has to repeat a grade two or more times. Tomorrow's Leaders NYC currently provides it's programs Brooklyn,NY. We provide academic support, mentoring, family support, vocational trips/workshops, life skills classes, and community service projects for our students.
The Board will support the work of TLNYC and provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance. TLNYC's founder/executive director leads day to day operations, the Board-ED relationship is a partnership, and the appropriate involvement of the Board is both critical and expected. TLNYC's Board Members must serve a one-year term to be eligible for re-appointment for an additional term. Board meetings will be held quarterly and committee meetings will be held bi-monthly. Board Member responsibilities include:
Leadership, governance and oversight
Regularly attends board meetings and related meetings; reviewing meeting agenda and supporting materials prior to board and committee meetings
Involved in establishing annual budget, audit reports, and material business decisions; being informed of, and meeting all, legal and fiduciary responsibilities
Contributing to an annual performance evaluation of the Executive Director
Assisting the Executive Director and board President in identifying and recruiting other Board Members
Partnering with internal stakeholders to ensure that board resolutions are carried out
Serving on committees or task forces; taking on special assignments and completing them in a timely and thorough manner
Representing TLNYC to stakeholders; acting as an ambassador for the organization
TLNYC expects to have 100 percent of Board Members make an annual contribution in accordance to the Board's annual bylaws.

Savvy diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and persuading, convening, facilitating, and building consensus among diverse individuals
Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving the lives of TLNYC's beneficiaries
