WorldTeach Chile volunteers will teach English at public schools through a partnership with Fundación Educacional Oportunidad. For Chile, mastery of the English language is vital in order to meet the challenges that the country faces in sustaining its development as an emerging economy in an increasingly globalized world. WorldTeach is excited to continue with our second year of this partnership!
Volunteers will be living in Paihuano, a city in the Elqui Valley in Chile's 4th region. Volunteers will live either with host families selected by Fundación Educacional Oportunidad or in shared housing relatively near their school campuses.
Volunteers depart in early June 2014 for orientation and they must commit to 7 months of volunteering. Applications are accepted on a rolling admissions basis until April 24th, 2014.
The volunteer commitment covers roundtrip airfare, health and evacuation insurance, housing, and monthly stipend to cover basic living expenses. The semester program requires volunteers to be between the ages of 21 and 74 by the departure date, hold a Bachelor's degree, and demonstrate a desire to teach. Volunteers need not be a US citizen, but must be native English speakers.
