You can enhance the quality of life our elders through validating their experience, breaking their isolation, sharing laughter, and building a friendship that can change their life, and yours! All it takes is availability for a few hours each week on weekdays between the hours of10am – 3pm.
Activity Assistant: Have limited availability, but want to join the fun? Adopt just one or several activities run by our staff Activities Coordinator, and provide the extra hands and smiles our participants need to have a great time
- Art therapy Wednesday afternoons
- Exercise class & tai chi
- Creative writing / cartooning
- Music therapy & song circle
Oral Historian: Get paired up with a few of our participants, get to know them, and capture their life story through words, pictures, and/or voice recording. Help them leave a legacy and be inspired by the richness of their experience.
Kitchen Assistant: Assist with lunch by setting the table, serving plates, packing leftovers, washing dishes, and engaging participants in conversation over a shared meal. Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays 11:30am – 1:30pm.
Activities Facilitator: Take a leadership role by training up to facilitate your own group!
- Men's Group – we have several younger men in our program who are higher functioning and not as engaged in the activities we have for our participants with dementia. They would love to have a volunteer work with them and create activities based on their needs.
- "Memories in the Making" – Great opportunity to receive training on this curriculum from the Alzheimer's Assocation!
Horticultural Therapist: Turn our garden into a therapeutic space for our elders to connect with the earth and growing things. Work with our Activity Coordinator to create curriculum appropriate for a variety of abilities, and oversee volunteer groups performing routine maintenance. Watch the garden and our elders flourish under your care.
We are happy to welcome your small groups to support our calendar of activities. Bring your group of 10-15 volunteers to create a custom project. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
