CLUES offers behavioral health and human services to Latino and diverse communities in Minnesota, including: Mental Health Services, Chemical Health Services, Aging Well Services, Family Enrichment Services, Economic Advancement Services (Employment, Education, and Financial Empowerment), and Community Health Worker Services. We employ a fully bilingual and multicultural staff in order to deliver culturally and linguistically appropriate services in a nurturing environment where clients and families can overcome some of life's most challenging issues.
Purpose of Position:
Volunteers give back to the community and build their own resumes by assisting participants one-on-one with their job search. They will be responsible for aiding walk-in clients with job search activities, including; internet job search, filling out online and print job applications, writing and formatting resumes, writing cover letters, preparing for interviews and writing post-interview thank-you notes during open computer lab times.
Position Type: Unpaid, part-time volunteer opportunity, 30+ hour commitment (minimum of 3 hours/week).

Responsibilities:
- Volunteer for 3 hours, a minimum of once per week for a period of 3 months.
- Assist Pathways to Employment and other walk-in clients with their job search (including directing them away from personal sites such as Facebook), update career center information binders with information about local resources, educational programs and career opportunities.
- Help clients with job search, cover letter and resume writing, and applying for jobs.
- Comply with program confidentiality and conduct policies. CLUES staff reserves the right to terminate a volunteer commitment if behavior is not in compliance with these policies.
- Keep in consistent communication with Employment Trainer and Administrative Coordinator as needed.
- Communicate concerns related to clients' progress as well as any other program matters.
CLUES reserves the right to terminate an internship or volunteer commitment if behavior is not in compliance with CLUES policies.
Qualifications:
- Responsible and punctual.
- Open and respectful to diverse life expectations, values and backgrounds.
- Encouraging, creative, flexible and friendly.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Bilngual a plus but not required.
- Able to assist students with use of computers and questions about job-searching or job-search documents such as resumes and cover letters. This knowledge of resume and cover letter formatting and a comfort level with computer and internet use.
Requirements & Training:
- Attend CLUES MANDATORY training/orientation with the Administrative Coordinator. This includes an initial interview, tour of the Career Center/Training Room and introductions to Staff.
- Recommended – An amount of professional experience that will allow you to feel comfortable advising others regarding this process (ranging from people who have never held a professional position to those who have worked 20+ years who are now unemployed).
- A criminal background check and/or driving record check may be required. CLUES reserves the right to conduct background checks.
