The Galápagos Islands are an archipelago of volcanic islands distributed on either side of the Equator in the Pacific Ocean. Located at the confluence of three ocean currents, the Galápagos are a 'melting pot' of marine species. Much like the revolutionary scientific idea it's become synonymous with, the Galápagos Islands may inspire you to think differently about the world!
Tourists visiting the Galapagos Islands are often shocked that in a place where people depend on tourism for 90% of their income, they do not receive a reasonable level of education, especially in the English Language. Often, even the teachers have problems since the Galapagos Islands have strict laws regarding hiring people from abroad, or even from Ecuador. Volunteers are therefore the best option to help to improve and develop these skills of the local population on the Islands.
Volunteer on this program will assist the local English teacher according to their schedule, and may work with children and/or teenagers. It's important that volunteers are flexible as there are a number of other tasks they can help with. These might include helping children with their homework, arranging games and activities, cleaning the classroom and assisting teachers with day to day administrative duties.
Join us on this amazing program and get the chance to not only provide life-changing skills to the local inhabitants, but to explore the amazing and fascinating Islands of the Galapagos! Volunteers can choose to work in either San Cristobal, Santa Cruz or Isabela Islands.
NOTE: In addition to the listed program fee, volunteers are required to cover the following costs
