AmeriCorps New American Integration Program (NAIP)

A Partnership of the MA Office for Refugees and Immigrants (ORI), the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition (MIRA), and English for New Bostonians (ENB)

The New American Integration Program recruits committed individuals from diverse backgrounds to assist and strengthen the work of community based organizations that serve refugees and immigrants. Our diverse group represents 16 different countries and speaks 20 different languages. Members will assist refugee and immigrant communities in obtaining essential services and educational opportunities that enable them to improve their quality of life. NAIP members receive intensive training to teach English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), serve as medical interpreters, and assist eligible Legal Permanent Residents in their applications for citizenship.

The term of service for the 2013-2014 service year begins September 3, 2013 and continues through July 31, 2014. Each member will be expected to complete at least 1700at their host site through the duration of their service.

Members interested in this service opportunity will receive:

  • A Living Allowance up to $12,100.00
  • An Education Award of $5,550.00
  • Health Coverage

Essential Functions include:

  • Teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) at partner sites
  • Assisting clients with their application for citizenship & Civics Instruction
  • Direct Service to Clients from refugee and immigrant communities
  • Volunteer Recruitment
