POSITION: Development Assistant for the Museum of Food and Drink
The Museum of Food and Drink (MOFAD) is seeking a Development Assistant to get in on the ground floor as we build a first-of-its-kind food museum in New York. We want someone who can provide reliable support to our multiple fundraising projects as we grow into an institution with a physical space and a core membership. We need the help of passionate, proactive individuals who are eager to help us generate the resources to make this possible. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking to start their non-profit development career.
Expect blood, sweat, tears, glory, and the occasional fizzy-lifting drink. This is a three-month unpaid volunteer position. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis.
Desired qualifications:
- You take pride in your writing skills -- professional experience is a plus
- You have experience working with non-profit organizations
- You have a background in institutional fundraising, including experience researching grants and foundations, as well as identifying and cultivating donor relationships
- You are comfortable working autonomously and can prioritize tasks without regular supervision
- You know how to work effectively with a team in a dynamic environment
- You have strong internet research and record-keeping skills
- You are detail-oriented and highly organized
- You have a fearless spirit and a passion for food culture, history, and science
Tasks potentially include:
- Identifying available sponsorship opportunities
- Identifying, researching, and communicating with prospective donors
- Developing materials for membership and fundraising purposes
- Assisting with grant research and grant proposals
- Researching fundraising best practices
- General administrative support
