Volunteer Opportunity description

Since 1988 The Westlake of Catholic Community Services has provided permanent, affordable residency to men over the age of 55. Through our program formerly chronically homeless men can find comfort in private, furnished rooms where they enjoy community activities and the company of other residents. The Westlake thrives to end homelessness and to give our residents peace of mind in starting anew with dignity. There are many volunteer opportunities at The Westlake fit for volunteers who are interested in being on-call.

  • Help fulfill resident needs by using an agency vehicle to transport residents once or twice a week to the grocery store and/ or errands and appointments.
  • Get to know residents and our program by helping to set up events such as anniversary dinners, Christmas parties, Bingo/ Movie Nights etc.
  • Hone your administrative skills while getting to know residents by covering the front desk for a few hours on weekday afternoons.
  • Build your portfolio and develop your design skills by creating invites/ fliers for our events.

Most of all these are wonderful opportunities if you would like to get more involved in the elderly- low income/ formerly homeless community and provide advocacy and support. If you are interested in becoming an on-call volunteer please contact us via this posting.
