Volunteer Opportunity description

As an in-home tutor, you commit to…

providing individual tutoring assistance to refugee youth and implementing age-appropriate educational activities in the participant's home, community, or library.

  • Homework should be the main focus of your tutoring, but it should be complemented with fun educational activities.
  • A minimum commitment of one year and a minimum of eight hours per month is necessary to develop a stable relationship. Volunteers are expected to make weekly visits to the child's home or library. Most resettled refugees are located in Rogers Park, AlbanyPark, and Edgewater
  • Monthly hours must be reported to the Volunteer and Literacy Facilitator
