The Cesar Chavez Foundation (CCF) is searching for a reliable individual to serve as a Teacher Assistant (TA) - AmeriCorps* Member and work with low income at-risk youth between the ages of 5-13 in our after-school and summer program. The TA will assist site staff at the Si Se Puede! Learning Center's after-school program by assisting youth with their homework and leading activities that are focued on service learning, art, music, science, and health and fitness.
The position will include the following responsibilities:
• Assist children with their daily homework. • Implement the learning Center's daily planned activities. • Support and implement a classroom positive reinforcement plan. • Participate in weekly center meetings. • Supervising students to ensure their safety and physical well being. • Assist in maintaining regular communication with parents. • Help in the effective operations of the overall after-school program.
Requirements:
- Applicants should have some experience working with children and a strong interest in community service.
- Available Monday - Friday during after-school hours (varies by location, but roughly between 2-6pm)
- As an AmeriCorps* volunteer position, applicants must be willing to commit to 6 months of service and able to contribute 17.5 hours of service per week.
- US Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident
- High School Graduate
Compensation includes a bi-monthly living stipend and an educational award of $1175.00 upon completion of service.
