Dynamic AmeriCorps Positions Available in Affordable Housing, Environmental Conservation, and Energy Efficiency Organizations
The Vermont Housing & Conservation Board AmeriCorps (VHCB AmeriCorps) places 36 AmeriCorps members in non-profit affordable housing, land conservation, and energy efficiency organizations around the state. Our dual goals are to create more stable affordable housing opportunities for Vermont residents while preserving the natural and working landscape by fostering a greater appreciation of and responsibility for the environment.
We are seeking action-oriented, passionate, hard-working, and energetic individuals to spend 11 months meeting important community needs in Vermont. Members will provide direct services, volunteer coordination, and capacity building for one of 29 nonprofit organizations. Examples of member duties include: assisting homeless individuals and families; delivering financial literacy education; building wheelchair ramps, houses and rehabilitation projects; installing energy savings measures in homes; inspiring school-age youth through environmental education and service opportunities, taking stewardship actions to conserve Vermont's working and native landscape; recruiting volunteers and raising awareness about conservation issues; extracting invasive plants and implementing land management plans, maintain trails and educate hikers on the leave no trace philosophy; contributing to Vermont's Clean Energy Future through research and support of Town Energy Committees.
Positions begin September 12th, 2016 and end August 12th, 2016.
