Volunteer Opportunity description

The New York Common Pantry is dedicated to reducing hunger while promoting dignity and self-sufficiency. NY Common Pantry is also very active in Superstorm Sandy relief. To date, we have delivered thousands of pounds of food and supplies to the communities most impacted by the storm. We will be continuing these efforts throughout the upcoming months, but we need your help!

We are looking for someone to help:

  • receive disaster relief deliveries
  • make food packages
  • load the cargo van
  • ride with our driver to various communities in Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island
  • unload packages and supplies to relief partners in the affected areas.

We are looking for 1-2 volunteers every Tuesday-Saturday from about 9:00AM-5:00PM from now until the end of June. It will be a great opportunity for someone to get hands-on experience in relief and recovery efforts and also exposure to many local agencies active in Sandy relief work. Volunteers will start and end their day at the NY Common Pantry, 8 East 109th Street.
