AmeriCorps Educator/Camp Counselor in Appalachia

Description

Long-term AmeriCorps Members (August 2013-August 2014) needed to teach character education and other life skills in Eastern Kentucky classrooms. Members may also develop after-school activities and will have an active role in planning and implementing two teen retreats each year. When school is not in session, this Member will serve as a camp counselor in a camp serving children from low-income families.

Christian Appalachian Project is a nonprofit human services organization serving people in need in Appalachia. Long-term volunteers with CAP receive room and board, a monthly stipend, health insurance, vacation time, a potential AmeriCorps Education Award of up to $5,550, and potential student loan deferment. Minimum age to volunteer is 18.
