We have an excellent and highly comptetent medical staff. They work wonders with what little is available to them. Their clinic is extremely small and dirty due to the fact that it is made from bricks and mud, and there is no plaster on the walls or floors. The laboratory is in the same condition.
We would like to construct a larger and more sanitary clinic and laboratory, including an in-patient sick bay area. There are also many tools which we are lacking.
To construct the buildings, we can use bricks which are made here on the grounds. We will need to purchase concrete and support beams. The estimated cost of materials would be around $700 USD.
This would also be a great opportunity for medical students or citizens interested in tropical medicine to get a hands-on-experience. Some of our children we regret to say are HIV positive, and our doctor manages their health. We also have people who practice traditional herbal medicine, for those interested in learning holistic methods.
Any type or amount of support would be greatly appreciated. For a full list of clinical tools we are needing, please email us at byana1754@hotmail.com
The maximum amount of volunteers needed for this project would be 10 for construction. People interested in clinical work would need to be no more than 3 (ex: interns, observation, herbal medicine) per group.
We ask all potential volunteers to fil out our Volunteer Profile. This form can be obtained by emailing us with your name and which project you would like to help with.
