Today there are 1.5 million college-educated, work authorized immigrants, refugees and asylees living in the United States who are either unemployed or underemployed. In their home countries they were educators, bankers, lawyers, engineers, scientists, doctors and non-profit professionals. In the US they are currently working as nannies, cabdrivers, janitors, security guards and gas station attendants. Upwardly Global is a non-profit organization that seeks to help these professional immigrants reclaim their careers in the US.
Our mission is to eliminate employment barriers for skilled immigrants and refugees and integrate this population into the professional U.S. workforce. Networkers take part in a 2-hour workshop that simulates a typical networking environment. This fun event gives job seekers a chance to practice their networking skills in a friendly environment, connect with professional peers and develop job search leads. This is a great opportunity to interact with our job seekers on a social level and to directly help them improve their networking skills as well as meet other professionals.
Come network and help them practice their marketing pitch and networking skills on Wednesday June 12th from 6:30PM to 8:30PM at RHI, 50 California Street, 10th Floor, San Francisco.
