Communications Coordinator

Description

Position Purpose: The Communications Coordinator will, in collaboration with the Fundraising Campaign Coordinator, develop The UNITE Foundation brand and strengthen and maintain communications with donors and other stakeholders. The Communications Coordinator is responsible for coordinating marketing, public relations and social media in support of the annual fundraising campaign and the long term goals of The UNITE Foundation. This position will coordinate with colleagues responsible for grant solicitation, individual donor identification and stewardship, and events planning.

Position Responsibilities:

1. Develop overall marketing and communications strategies in support of individual donor outreach for the 2012-2013 Fundraising Campaign

- Work with colleagues to maintain and update website and social networking presence (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) according to current Fundraising Campaign goals and objectives

- Produce e-newsletters, reports and e-communications, as well as op-eds, news releases and press materials.

- Create content designed to expand the UNITE Foundation's name recognition and reach to key audiences (individual donors, funders, advocates, etc.)

- Coordinate with the Fundraising Campaign Coordinator to update/maintain our individual donor contact list

- Work with the Camp UNITE Liaison to include Camp UNITE updates and news in the e-newsletter, website and other promotional materials.

2. Manage publicity for events

- Assist volunteers and staff in marketing and publicity for events including e-invitations, email communications, social media and print material.

3. Participate in staff meetings (generally scheduled bi-monthly) and board meetings (quarterly) to update leadership on communications strategies and successes.

Qualifications Desired:

  1. Professional written and oral communication skills
  2. Skills in producing media events, marketing materials, and related items
  3. Expertise in media outreach, including print and web-based media
  4. Excellence in creating and preparing written material such as press releases, web content and layouts
  5. Superior time management skills
  6. Management or communications experience

Time Commitment: Approximately 1-5 hours per week. The Communications Coordinator is responsible for attending weekly staff meetings as well as quarterly board meetings.
