Volunteer Opportunity description

Volunteer Impact: Volunteers for the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics) Program will assist with implementing STEM related activities, projects, & experiments for boys in middle school and high school. The STEM program runs each cycle (session) for 10 weeks, twice a week, and the theme or program may vary at the start of each new cycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Support development and implementation of STEM projects, activities, and experiments.
  • Help members answer specific questions and keep members focused while staying on task
  • Engage members in fun and relevant lessons based on established curriculum and specific classroom needs
  • Reinforce positive student behavior and clubhouse rules
  • Assist with classroom preparation, bulletin displays, and make copies as needed

Qualifications:

  • Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Literacy, and other highly relevant majors are encouraged to apply
  • Interest in pursuing a career working with or instructing youth
  • Commitment to sharing knowledge and contributing to youth and community development
  • Experience with Lego Mind storms, Robotics, or STEM related programming is a plus
  • Experience with curriculum development, lesson plan implementation or instruction is a plus
