Women’s empowerment is an ongoing goal, and project possibilities are endless. Cornerstone volunteers work extensively with other local groups to serve the interests of women. It focuses on domestic violence response and prevention, women’s health issues, training peer counselors, working to establish a safe shelter, conducting self-esteem workshops, offering marketable skills training, and planning events for women.

Cornerstone provides accommodations (dorm style), a hot home cooked Belizean midday meal on work days, orientations (volunteer, house, cultural, office, and program), staff direction, professional networking, and office space (including equipment and supplies).
Volunteers contribute financially to Cornerstone and must have travel health insurance. Cornerstone’s office and housing are both located in San Ignacio in the Cayo District of Belize (11 miles from Guatemala). Applicants must be 18 years or older.
