Description

About The Position

Loevy + Loevy is a civil rights law firm fighting for justice, accountability, and transparency across the United States. We are one of the largest and most successful firms of its kind.

We take on some of the nation’s most interesting and difficult public interest cases, advocating in and outside the courtroom to secure justice for our clients and to hold officials, governments, and corporations accountable. Our compassionate, highly-qualified attorneys work relentlessly to ensure our clients are supported, empowered, and victorious.

Over the past few decades, Loevy + Loevy’s legal advocacy has had a sizable impact on civil rights in the United States. We have uncovered widespread practices of police and prosecutorial misconduct in cities including Chicago, Los Angeles, and Boston. We have won record-breaking wrongful conviction verdicts for innocent exonerees. We have forced the public release of pivotal police video footage and government reports. We have secured verdicts and injunctions for prisoners denied their constitutional rights. And we have championed class actions on behalf of protestors. We also have, and continue to develop, other practice areas that align with our values, such as cases addressing privacy rights and general tort claims.

The Director of Communications develops and oversees an ambitious, comprehensive, and proactive communications strategy to support Loevy + Loevy’s brand, advocacy, and outreach. In collaboration with communications staff and firm leadership, the Director of Communications develops communications priorities to amplify our clients’ stories, support our lawsuits, push criminal legal reform, and bolster Loevy + Loevy’s external image as a leading national civil rights law firm.

The ideal candidate will be curious and inquisitive, proactive and a self-starter, a talented writer with press/media experience, invested in social justice, comfortable with all social media platforms, adept at forming relationships with members of the media and civil rights community, and excited to spearhead change-making public narratives. The Director of Communications will collaborate with attorneys, staff, and clients across all of our practice areas, including wrongful convictions, police abuses, prosecutorial misconduct, prisoners’ rights, First Amendment issues, and whistleblower protection.

Ideally, we’d like to push to the next level, making an even bigger impact on the nation. To do so, we need an effective communications strategy led by a skilled person.
