Priority Tutor Position for Fall 2024
We are looking for 1-2 reading specialists with prior classroom teaching and/or intervention experience to join our instructor team. This role will be starting in October.
Position: Reading Specialist Instructor
This is an independent contractor position during daytime hours (8:30-3:30) working with up to 4 high school students in small groups in an in-person setting. This will take place at a high school in Camden, NJ.
Required Qualifications
High School Reading Specialist Instructor
- Availability 3 days per week during daytime hours, schedule to be determined
- Willingness to travel within Philadelphia and Camden, NJ
- 2+ years experience doing reading interventions with high schoolers.
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Understanding of student-centered and culturally responsive learning practices
- Ability to complete federal PA and NJ state background checks and clearances
- A zest for learning and the spark to share and build knowledge with students!
Preferred Qualifications
High School Reading Specialist Instructor
- Wilson Certification
- Experience working with English Language Learners and students with an IEP
Instructor Responsibilities
- Prepare engaging lessons and materials to meet students’ needs
- Connect with students from diverse backgrounds and educational experiences to maximize their academic potential and to help them achieve their goals
- Communicate with TEACH office staff and parents/guardians to coordinate tutoring lessons and check-in about student progress in a punctual manner and with attention to detail
- Participate in professional development opportunities to improve tutoring practice and connect with inspiring educators from around the greater Philadelphia area
- Submit time-sensitive information using our database and other online documentation
Compensation
$70/ hr
