Anchoring our Roots, Community Program Manager

Organization Description:

We are a grassroots community based organization in Washington State, that is working closely with several King and Pierce County community based support strategies centering Black and Brown communities (Birth to 24). Our mission is to create restorative family-centered wellness experiences centered in nature based and ancestral wisdom. We focus on applying Afro-Centered Naturopathic Health Principles and building strong parent-child relationships with proximity to nature. We are looking for a new team member to lead Anchoring our Roots, our community based programs.

Position Title: Anchoring our Roots, Community Program Manager

Reports to: Executive Director

Location:  Hybrid; 50% in-person team meetings in Auburn office and Auburn Nature field site, outreach and community engagement events and 50% remote work.

Position Type: 20 hours per week including hours needed 1-2 weekends per month

Compensation: $30-40/hour 

Position to be filled by: application reviewed on rolling basis with start date July 8th 2024

Position Overview

Anchoring our Roots, Community Program Manager serves as an important member of the budding team and works in close collaboration with the Executive Director, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) contractors/consultants (the Team) to implement and sustain ongoing community based programming. Successful candidates are highly organized to ensure daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual operational and programmatic tasks are completed. We will help you succeed in this position as you are fostering and embracing an emergent-culture of constant exploration, learning and innovation in a creative and nurturing environment.

The principal responsibilities of the position include:

(40%) Program Management 

  • Collaborate closely with the Executive Director, Team, and stakeholders to identify community needs and co-develop, design and plan programs that address those needs.
  • Manage program operations by creating and maintaining project management tools, including timelines, budgets, work plans, and trackers.  
  • Oversee the execution of programs, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget. Work in close collaboration with the Executive Director to immediately address emerging or urgent needs that impact program performance and/or progress as needed to prevent program derailment.
  • Evaluate and report program progress and outcomes. This includes drafting feedback forms, competency assessments, and community participant incentives as needed.
  • Compile survey data, summarize findings, and provide reports and feedback to JSOL STUDIOS Team and other stakeholders.

(30%) Program Administration 

  • Coordinate closely with the Team to ensure the timely completion of tasks and program fidelity. 
  • Coordinate virtual and in-person event planning logistics, participation, evaluation, and communication.
  • Schedule and prepare for meetings, training, events, and workshops for program activities. This includes procuring and providing required materials such as agendas, slide decks, equipment, reference materials, and (when in person) food/refreshment for events. 
  • Attend meetings as needed for documentation and active participation, as well as any follow-up communications.

(30%) Community Outreach, Leadership, and Advocacy 

  • Build and maintain relationships with community members, partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Work under the guidance of the Team to ensure accurate curriculum and program materials are available to team, partners and stakeholders.
  • Assist with training modules that can be administered through web-based, webinars, or other digital or electronic types of formats.
  • Develop and implement strategies for reaching and engaging community members.

Qualifications:

Highly Desired:

  • 2+ years prior program/project management experience and prior experience in a growing and fast-paced environment.
  • Fluent in anti-racist and liberatory frameworks while engaging with work, team members and community stakeholders.
  • Honesty, Joy, accountability, curiosity and transparency with a commitment to equity centering Black, Brown, Indigenous and Latinx communities.
  • Experience centering health disparities and health equity
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills with attention to details.
  • Ability to exhibit a professional, positive attitude, empathy, and strong work ethic.
  • Demonstrated intellectual independence and ability to take initiative.
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn and receive constructive feedback.
  • Strong analytic, organizational, time management  and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Computer and database skills in Google Suite (Gmail, Drive, Sheets, Docs, Jamboard, Forms) 

Desired:

  • Background in Naturopathic wellness, Public Health, STEAM, Environmental Science, Health/Wellness industry, Maternal Child Health and Perinatal Health
  • 2+ years prior experience in early childhood education
  • Experience in developing presentations, resource guides, web-based training modules, and communication materials (desired).
  • Understanding of working in an organization with a grassroots identity.
  • Ability to assess priorities and manage a variety of competing priorities in a time-sensitive environment and to meet deadlines with attention to detail and quality, while maintaining positivity.
  • Fluency with Slack, Canva, Podia, Kahoot and program management software.
  • Prior work with Apple products (Macs, Ipad and Iphone).

Work Conditions:

  • Must have your own reliable transportation and be willing to use it for work travel, including making work drives regionally between King and Pierce Counties
