Title: Applications Engineer 

Report to: Vice President, Product Management 

Location: NY (Brooklyn NY)

Phase Change Solutions has an opening for an Applications Engineer located in Brooklyn NY. The successful candidate is responsible for designing, developing and implementing programs and applications for the Company. The candidate must be experienced in deep customer analysis leading to the creation of applications; a high degree of sensitivity to customer needs and the capability of taking those needs and providing innovative solutions to customer problems. The applications engineer is responsible for the design, documentation and application of PCS products to customer needs and will be responsible for the entire development life cycle from prototyping through code review to ensure that the product/application is acceptable to meet customer needs. Partnering closely with our product development, R&D, operations, and sales teams as well as our end users and channel partners, the applications engineer will work to provide a deep and enduring customer experience for the end users of our PCS products through the creation of innovative solutions designed for long term customer retention and partnerships. 


Key Responsibilities

• Primary technical point of contact for customers

• Evaluating the company’s product specifications versus customer requirements

• Visiting customers, determining customer needs and supporting those needs

• Addressing customer questions, including but not limited to, engineering, design, applications, system, specifications, pricing, lead times/schedules, terms and conditions, and contracts/purchase orders

• Preparing project status reports by studying, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends, and preparing Measurement and Verification (M&V) plans for case studies, and recommending actions

• Performing experiments, data analysis, and engineering designs to assist the company on the energy related projects such as improving the energy efficiency of air conditioning (HVAC) systems with Phase Change Materials.

• Developing technical articles describing application of PCS products for various requirements Skills and Experiences

• B.S. in mechanical, chemical energy engineering or a related science field with a minimum of five (5) years of related experience is required.

• Solid engineering knowledge in material sciences and heat transfer is required

• Must have strong mathematical skills and a detail-oriented mentality

• Strong ability to transition between customer interaction and the ability to get into the technical challenges in the field is required

• Ability to work successfully with an agile, entrepreneurial team and manage multiple priorities simultaneously in this fast-paced environment is required

• Experience in R&D and product development in the field of advanced materials and thermal solutions is preferred
