As a Trilogy Interactive summer fellow, you will play a crucial role on our team as we manage, develop, and launch digital communications strategies for our political and nonprofit clients. In addition to gaining hands-on experience learning directly about this fast-changing industry alongside our client teams, fellows will participate in Trilogy’s Summer Fellowships Lunch & Learn Series, where Trilogy experts will share their experiences in subject areas such as digital fundraising, paid media, email marketing, social media, and more. Trilogy's staff will also work with you to improve your skills and understanding of political communications, online organizing, and job hunting in this industry on a one-on-one basis.
Trilogy shifted to remote work in 2020 in response to COVID-19, and we anticipate one more summer of working remotely as we all do our part to end this pandemic. While 2021 fellows, like our 2020 fellows, won’t get the full office experience, we are making plans to help foster camaraderie among fellows and staff while working from home.
Fellowship Details
Trilogy offers full-time (30 hours per week), 8-10 week paid summer fellowships in several departments. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, our 2021 summer fellowships will be performed remotely and are open to candidates who would work from California, Washington D.C., Illinois, Maryland, Texas, Washington State, Colorado, or Massachusetts.
Ideal candidates will have an interest in and familiarity with electoral politics and campaigning, as well as an interest in the rapidly evolving field of digital marketing.
Candidates must have strong communication and quantitative skills, strict attention to detail, a sense of curiosity, and a willingness to explore new ideas.
Fellowships are available in the following departments (see the bottom of this listing for descriptions of each department). Please indicate in your cover letter which department you would like to be considered for:
While each department will have its own related responsibilities, all fellowships will include the following duties:

Department Descriptions
Production - Berkeley or D.C.
As a production fellow at Trilogy Interactive, you'll work with members of the strategy team directly on client projects. You will interact with production staff as well as strategists and project leads to see a full picture of what it means to be the digital consultant for a variety of clients. Fellows will write and build emails, develop and post social media content, assist in proofreading and quality control, update client websites, and analyze performance metrics to help guide strategic recommendations.
Paid Media - Berkeley
As a paid media fellow at Trilogy Interactive, you will be closely involved with our team’s day-to-day advertising tasks such as reporting, trafficking, quality assurance, and research. It will be an opportunity for you to learn the ins and outs of digital media buying while working with key technology platforms such as Facebook, Google, and Roku. You will primarily work on electoral, nonprofit, and public affairs campaigns in a dynamic and highly collaborative environment with periods of intense and exciting work.
Copywriting - Chicago
As a copywriting fellow at Trilogy Interactive, you’ll work with members of our strategy and creative teams to write clear, engaging emails that inspire people to take action. You’ll bring a strong command of English grammar, an interest in politics and current events, and proficiency with Google Docs, and leave with an understanding of persuasive writing best practices, particularly in the realms of email fundraising and advocacy. The copywriting fellowship may also involve writing digital ad copy. Familiarity with AP style is a bonus, but not required.
Social Media - Berkeley
As a social media fellow at Trilogy Interactive, you’ll be closely involved with our team’s daily social media projects. You’ll support every step of the content creation process by helping research, develop, draft, post, and proofread content, including design and video products. You’ll also help collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data—not just how many likes and shares a post receives, for example, but also the kinds of comments people leave on it and how many others use the campaign’s hashtag on their own. You’ll learn by doing a little bit of everything, not by being asked to do everything at once. If you thrive in the fast pace of social media, have a knack for crafting creative concepts and copy, and love to obsess over the details (we still can’t edit published tweets, @jack!), this is the role for you. It’s going to be a blast. 🚀
