Our team is seeking an Senior Accountant to join our client services community.

This is a great opportunity for an Accounting professional passionate about social good and supporting mission-driven organizations, while helping to advise and solve a variety of exciting accounting challenges.

The ideal candidate is passionate about learning, feels comfortable in small or unstructured environments, and loves bringing process improvements to complex systems.

The ideal candidate not only feels comfortable handling regular high-level accounting work efficiently and without error - they will also enthusiastically handle the varying demands of juggling a number of different clients in any given week. You’ll get the opportunity to work both within a team and independently to service clients, providing you with a wide breadth of experience.

Reports to: Vice President of Accounting


Essential Job Functions:

·      Analyze management financial reports, including but not limited to:

o  Statement of Activities (Income Statement);

o  Statement of Financial Position (Balance Sheet);

o  Cash Flow Statement;

o  Budget v. Actual Variance Report.

·      Prepare notes, where applicable, explaining variances against the budget in order to provide insight and clarity to the reader.

·      Assis with the preparation of the annual budget and/or projections/forecasts.

·      Ensure budgets are prepared and approved as per client timeline.

·      Prepare and present Board packages for client Finance/Audit/Board meetings.  

·      Ensure all 990 schedules are sent to Tax Department and that the 990 is reviewed by the Board in accordance with the review process laid out in Schedule O.

·      Maintain compliance with any tax and benefit related regulations and resolve tax/benefit-related issues (e.g. 1099, work comp audit, Form 5500, etc.).

·      Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures in accordance with QMS standards.

Client Advisory

·      Recognize and communicate with the client internal control weaknesses/opportunities and/or where best practices need to be in-place.

·      Prepare and participate in new engagement start-up meeting in order define project scope.

·      Deliver financial and management reports to the Executive Director (or person we report to) on a timely basis.

·      Implement Kiwi standard working procedures on engagements with guidance from Kiwi engagement lead.

·      Suggest technology upgrades, in collaboration with the Consulting team, to create efficiencies at the client.

·      Provide thought leadership to our clients, and actively participant in CAS meetings with the client engagement team.

Internal Supervisor Responsibilities

·      Implement Kiwi standard working papers to be used at new clients on an on-going basis.

·      Assist with staff scheduling.

·      Adhere to all of Kiwi Partners’ company policies and procedures in the Kiwi Employee Manual, and to all Quality Management Systems to build and maintain Kiwi culture and to provide consistent high quality service.

·      Follow Kiwi Partners’ security policies to ensure the safety, integrity, and confidentiality of client files and information.

·      Ensure data maintained on Kiwi devices for this client, is backed up regularly.

·      Monthly meeting with Vice Presidents to discuss client engagements.

·      Contribute relevant information to Kiwi Partners’ “knowledge” database so that all staff will have access to helpful information that will enhance job knowledge and job performance.

·      Attend various job trainings/workshops offered by Kiwi Partners in order to further develop technical, management, and organizational skills.

·      Act as mentor to Junior Consultants, Interns and client accounting staff where applicable.

·      Adhere to internal administrative policies including, but not limited to, timesheets, and weekly scheduling.


Qualifications:

·      Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (Master’s or CPA preferred).

·      4-6 years of accounting experience, preferred.

·      Experience working in fast-paced, client-driven environment, a plus.


Knowledge and Skills:

·      Strong attention to detail

·      Has the flexibility and accountability to manage multiple projects for multiple clients

·      Able to communicate effectively with both clients and Kiwi management

·      Ability to work efficiently both independently and within a team


Physical Demands:

·      May be required to move to and from main office to clients' offices. May be required to carry a laptop and files to and from clients' offices.
