SSP Development Assistant
Since its founding in 1986, Student Sponsor Partners (SSP) has been providing private high school education to economically and educationally disadvantaged students. Thousands of students are supported by a sponsor and a mentor and attend private partner high schools located in New York City. SSP is made up of Philanthropy, Program and Administrative staff who are dedicated to the mission of providing quality education to underprivileged children.
SSP is looking for a Development Assistant to support the Philanthropy team. This role will report directly to the Chief Philanthropy Officer and will support a team of Major Gifts Officers and Direct Cause Giving staff. The role is located in New York City.
In this role:
- You will provide support in managing a robust portfolio of current and potential donors. The Development Assistant is immersed in all aspects of nonprofit development including individual fundraising, grant management, donor events and more.
- The Assistant works closely with the Chief of Philanthropy & Resource Development and the Philanthropy & Resource Development team as they work to meet fundraising goals for SSP, including working closely with Raiser’s Edge data, providing information and reporting across all fundraising initiatives as requested.
Qualified candidates will have:
Minimum of an Associate’s Degree (Bachelor’s Degree preferred) with internships and/or an interest in a career in non-profit. Technical aptitude (Microsoft Word and Excel) is essential for success, along with a positive, can-do attitude, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a high degree of self-motivation and the ability to work well on a team and learn new concepts quickly.
