Field Consultant, The Outreach Team

The Outreach Team is an organizing team that partners with good groups to do great things. We are excited to be working with Planned Parenthood Pennsylvania Advocates to help build out and manage their 2021 field work focused on protecting reproductive healthcare and rights, encouraging supporters to get the Covid vaccine, supporting legislative advocacy campaigns, and leading non-partisan civic engagement work.

General Overview:  For far too long, the Pennsylvania Legislature’s agenda has been to reduce people’s access to reproductive healthcare. Since 2018, we have made great gains by helping to elect 17 additional pro-reproductive healthcare champions to the Legislature and we have a champion and former clinic volunteer in Governor Wolf. We need to organize and advocate to ensure that our elected officials are standing up to protect our care. As a field consultant, you will work with Planned Parenthood Advocates of Pennsylvania field staff and fellows to develop field plans, launch grassroots actions like phonebanks and petitioning events, and will run a series of skills trainings to ensure that the organization is set up for long term success.

Timeline and Location: We are hiring one full-time consultant for this position beginning ASAP and continuing through December 31st, 2021. Candidates may be based anywhere in the United States but must be willing to travel to Pennsylvania at least one week per month. We prefer candidates based in Pennsylvania. At the end of the project, there will likely be opportunities for advancement with The Outreach Team.

Responsibilities:

Write and execute field plans

  • Build a field plan for the Protect our Care campaign, for a campaign to encourage Planned Parenthood supporters to get vaccinated, for legislative advocacy campaigns, and for c3 civic engagement campaigns.
  • Create materials for trainings and train organizers, fellows, and volunteers on key skills required to carry out the field plan.
  • Create tracking systems and goal-to-date measurement tools to ensure that we are on track to hit grant deliverables.

Coach organizers and fellows

  • Conduct regular weekly planning calls and coaching meetings with five field organizers to elevate their skills and help drive goals forward.
  • Conduct regular biweekly planning calls and coaching meetings with six field fellows to elevate their skills and help drive goals forward.
  • Alongside organizers and fellows, participate in and help run phonebank and textbank kickoffs, petitioning events, and other grassroots actions

Reporting and Data

  • Submit a nightly numbers report detailing progress to goal on key metrics
  • Ensure that organizers and fellows keep a pristine database of volunteers and petition signers, updated daily
  • Submit a weekly narrative report including photos of rallies and petitioning events
  • Drive and track key grant deliverables

Qualifications:

●        4-6 years experience in field and volunteer organizing either on advocacy or electoral campaigns with a minimum of 1-2 years of experience managing and coaching staff.

●        Demonstrated experience training and coaching staff and volunteers.

●        Demonstrated experience writing and executing field plans

●        Self-starter and excellent problem-solving skills

●        Personally organized

●        Passion for protecting reproductive healthcare and rights

●        Willingness to work evenings and weekends

●        Experience working with campaign data management tools is preferred

Salary

The salary for this position is $55,000-$67,000, depending on experience and you will be eligible for an end-of-project bonus of up to $2,000 based on performance.  We offer a generous benefits package, including unlimited paid vacation and sick leave, free health insurance, and a monthly cell phone stipend. At the end of the campaign, there may be opportunities for advancement.
