Strategic Consultant & Project Advisor – 32-40 hours / week

We are looking for our next colleague to join us in supporting people and organizations who are changing the world. You will join our small, friendly team and consortium of highly-skilled, amazing consultants. We partner with clients to strengthen their systems, and themselves. Our primary operating principle is to “be useful,” and every day we get to work with interesting, smart, mission-driven people and organizations who are changing the world for the better. We start each engagement with respect, and maintain that approach throughout every interaction. We keep our focus on impact, on building clients’ internal capacity, and on co-contributing to a more just and equitable local and global community.

As we continue to grow, we need you to join our consulting team – to bring your experience, energy, insights and leadership skills to our team. Our diverse group of clients continue to need us to work with them to develop strategies, to facilitate their system-level conversations, to support them in growing the skills, teamwork and leadership they need.  More and more they come to us needing a partner in their individual and collective work to embed equity and anti-racism into their organizations and services.   We’ve been doing consulting work with an understanding of intersectionality, power, privilege and systemic challenges for over 20 years now, and continue to learn and grow with each interaction.

In all of our work, we partner with our clients to examine their assumptions and embed equity-based, strategic thinking within policies, practices and behaviors. We do this in lots of different ways, ranging from assessments, policy review, task forces, training, coaching, strategy and facilitating high stakes conversations and processes within organizations. We are seeking someone to join us as a consultant with knowledge and experience in advising and facilitating DEI work, and a strong passion to support and grow the capacity of our clients. This position is driven by our own organizational growth, and will be a part of our practice’s management team, including responsibilities for project ownership and management, as well as employee supervision and development.

About Crux

Crux is a group of consultants who work with clients to strengthen their organizations, strategies, and systems. We help with things like strategic planning, leadership coaching, board retreats, DEI work within organizations, training, facilitating meetings, working through internal conflicts or growth challenges. We are a small, woman-owned business, proud to recently have been certified by the National Gay Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, with our home office in southeast Seattle. (You can see our whole Consortium and examples of the work we do on our website www.cruxnw.com) We understand that people’s lives aren’t separate from their work, and our work schedules are flexible. Most of our clients are local and global nonprofits, school districts, city or county initiatives, foundations, and member associations. We also work with corporations and small businesses – particularly in the area of strategy and leadership development.

We believe that each of us learns and grows best as a team. We invest in the growth of every person at Crux and in our Consortium of colleagues - by setting each other up for success and providing learning opportunities across all aspects of our business. If you’re interested in something that Crux works on, then you’ll get to experience it. If you have an area of understanding that we can learn from, we’ll be interested in learning with and from you as well. Our internal norms include honest communication, respect for each other as human beings, commitment to modeling and forwarding equity and justice in our work, flexibility in process with commitment to high quality deliverables, and always learning.
