Legendary Game-Based Learning

Business Development Representative (BDR)

Promote to Junior Account Executive within a Year

About Legends of Learning

American children are in need of educational heroes both inside and outside of the classroom who can engage students in exciting new methods of learning. Legends of Learning is on a mission to transform classrooms into fun, productive learning environments. Utilizing a foundation of fresh research to create a comprehensive, curriculum-aligned, game-filled marketplace with an epic range of lessons, we are improving student performance and increasing educational engagement everyday.

Business Development Representative (BDR)

Legends of Learning has been extremely impactful in thousands of schools and districts across the country. Over the last four years, we have developed a proven methodology to generate new opportunities within school districts. In this BDR role, you will have an opportunity to work directly with company and sales leadership to dramatically scale up our development of new opportunities.

You will join and train with a new BDR team of high-energy people like you, who share our educational mission and like to have fun while pursuing it. The BDR team will be geographically distributed (and working from home, with occasional travel), but all members will work together and participate in a daily huddle with the Territory Field Sales team to promote a high level of camaraderie, performance, and connectedness.  The team will meet in person every quarter for collaboration, team-building, goal-setting, and planning.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Mining data from the company’s platform database to identify opportunities based on usage of our free content
  • Developing email sequences to reach out to prospects
  • Calling key contacts in prospect accounts to generate appointments and qualify opportunities
  • Sending attention-grabbing mailers to high-value prospects
  • Collecting pilot data and following up on identified opportunities
  • Conducting warm introductions of qualified opportunities to company’s Territory Field Sales Directors

This is an entry-level position tasked with identifying, qualifying and generating sales opportunities through both inbound and outbound activities, and then handing these opportunities to the field sales team. This position requires heavy outbound phone calling and emailing, qualification, consultative selling skills, and tight collaboration with the Territory Field Sales Directors to generate new opportunities.

For successful BDRs, there is an opportunity to quickly advance into a Junior Account Executive position, in which you would begin closing deals with our existing team. Such promotions can occur within 6-12 months for strong performing BDRs. If you thrive on meeting new people, proactively communicating with them and learning their needs; if you have high energy and are passionate about helping to transform education; if you want to help build a strategic program for a rapidly growing company in a new and exciting industry, we invite you to apply for this position.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Quickly learn the Legends of Learning product, effectively communicate the value proposition and be able to react to objections and competitive questions
  • Respond, engage, and qualify inbound leads and inquiries
  • Work with your Territory Field Sales Director to identify ongoing strategic targets
  • Mine the platform database to create target prospect lists in key accounts
  • Identify key players, research and discover curriculum requirements, and present solutions to begin the sales cycle
  • Cold call new prospects and develop email campaigns to engage with them
  • Engage current Legends of Learning users to expand awareness and educate them about the benefits of a subscription partnership
  • Hold intelligent and engaging conversations over the phone, on Zoom, and through email
  • Ask for referrals, identify new opportunities and develop account intelligence
  • Educate and develop prospects leading to hand-off to Territory Field Sales Directors
  • Schedule appointments and demos for Territory Field Sales Directors
  • Write executive summaries for the Territory Field Sales Directors to prepare them for upcoming appointments and demos
  • Ensure successful follow-up through the sales cycle by maintaining accurate activity and lead qualification information in Salesforce CRM
  • Meet or exceed targets of minimum number of calls and emails per day
  • Consistently achieve qualified opportunity targets to ensure territory revenue objectives
  • Occasional travel to industry events, and for quarterly team meetings

Successful BDRs will have the opportunity to shadow Territory Field Sales Directors in meetings and other activities to help acquire the skills needed for a promotion to a Junior Account Executive. The BDRs that are promoted to Junior Account Executive will have the opportunity to complete the sales cycle and close deals.
