Pen to Paper Grant Consulting is seeking a Grant Writer (remote) with excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills along with demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software (experience with Google Suite preferred). The candidate must have a minimum of 3+ years of experience writing grants for non-profit organizations. The Grant Writer must be highly organized with the ability to implement systems and follow-up processes, effectively work autonomously under pressure, use independent judgment, and produce a quality work product. Previous experience will demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of grant proposal and preparation skills as well as an ability to conduct grant prospect research and to distinguish and identify appropriate funding opportunities.

The Grant Writer will work remotely, in a home office location. Southern California preferred, but not required. Travel to and from Client/ Pen to Paper meetings in Orange County, Los Angeles County or beyond may be required on occasion (travel reimbursement will be provided).

The Grant Writer is a full-time position (30+ hrs./week) working directly with the Pen to Paper Grant Consulting Team. The Grant Writer will be responsible for writing grant applications, letters of inquiry, and reports to corporate and private foundations on behalf of Pen to Paper Grant Consulting Inc. clients; coordinating grant application and report submissions; and providing clients with copies of all finalized grant materials. Primary duties include:

Grant Project Development

  • Review Prospect Website/Funding/Reporting History and Guidelines
  • Create Grant Project Template (*if on-line submission)/ Outline (*if mailed)
  • Identify and locate items needed to complete grant projects (including drafting a list of items needed from the client for each project)
  • Draft competitive Letters of Inquiry, grant applications, grant proposals and grant reports to prospective funders
  • Complete edits/revisions based on feedback from P2P team members and Lead Client Contact
  • Prepare final versions of competitive Letters of Inquiry, grant applications, grant proposals and grant reports to be presented to Client for submission to funders
  • Confirm all related documents are located in appropriate Google Drive client files

Prospect Research

  • Conduct Prospect Research in accordance with Pen to Paper Grant Consulting Inc. processes
  • Enter Prospect Research Data into Prospect Research Form (excel)
  • Generate Prospect Research Reports

Database Management

  • Update internal project management database (Wrike) as needed to reflect projects worked on, completed and submitted

Administrative

  • Update/Maintain current files for assigned Clients
  • Confirm all related grant project documents are located in appropriate internal client files
  • Update Client Profile document monthly/bi-annually with new content/data/financials
  • Other duties as assigned

Client Interfacing

  • Communicate with Lead Client Contact as needed via email and telephone communications to gather information needed to complete Letters of Inquiry, grant applications, grant proposals and grant reports
  • Attend Client meetings as necessary

Professional Development

  • Participate in minimum of one professional development training annually (budget permitting)

Meetings/Performance Review

  • Participate in 30-60-minute weekly/bi-weekly project update call and/or regular email project update
  • Participate in 90-minute monthly team touch base call
  • Annual Professional Development Goal Setting/Performance Review
  • Annual staff retreat/celebration (budget permitting)

Salary

This is an hourly position for minimum of 30 hrs./week; pay/hour based on experience (range of $45,000-$60,000)
