Job Profile: Associate Consultant (Full Time)

Your Role:

As an Associate Consultant and Project Manager, you will be a key player in guiding consulting projects to successful completion, building relationships, and creating superior deliverables. Working independently and remotely, you will help develop strategic plans, organizational analyses, and governance assessments for a diverse range of nonprofit clients desiring to maximize their missions – from zoos to gardens to conservation organizations.

We are looking for someone to:

-         Engage with People: Interview a range of stakeholders – client staff, board members, public officials, and business and community leaders. Excellent communication skills are crucial.

-         Keep Things on Track: Be detailed oriented and extremely organized to manage interviews, meetings, and interactions with our clients and everyone involved in our planning efforts – partners, contractors, or other consultants.

-         Be a Big Thinker: You’ll bring new perspectives to the table and offer innovative ideas and solutions to solve our clients’ challenges.

-         Demonstrate Excellence with the written word: By tracking, recording, and summarizing the myriad information in any project, you will help create meeting minutes and be part of the creation of final reports, detailing how to continue to make these institutions great.

-         Be Independent: You’ll work with up to 10 different clients at a time and sometimes six different projects; you’ll spend time working with teams but also work alone. If you’re a motivated, self-starter, you’ll thrive in this environment.

-         Have a Sense of Adventure: Travel to different locations to meet with teams and clients. (20-30% travel)

The Company:

We are a boutique consulting firm operating under two brands – Zoo Advisors and The Tenby Group. We offer our planning services to mission-driven and passion-filled niche markets. As the conversation around conservation, zoos, aquariums, and green spaces are changing, these organizations are in increasing need of guidance on how to best navigate the landscape and continue to grow and prosper. We are the industry leader, providing expert counsel to these organizations’ leaders across the globe.

Our Mission:

We are committed to a set of guiding principles that reflect our team’s beliefs. Being thoughtful; approachable, inclusive, transparent, generous, and responsive are the values that guide us. Adhering to these principles is not always easy, but staying true to them is who we are. We will always do the right thing, even if it’s not the easy thing or the most profitable thing.

Being committed to promoting diversity and advancing equitable workplaces is more than just checking a box for us. We live that philosophy every day, conducting workshops, speaking at conferences, and supporting advancement throughout the profession. We count ourselves as a voice for progress across the professions we serve. We recognize that we can’t change the world, but we hope to effect change in our corner of it.

What you will bring to the team:

·        An undergraduate degree in organizational development, business, marketing, liberal arts, or a comparable field is preferred, but not required. We will not discriminate based on your field of study, and we encourage applicants from all fields. Advanced degrees/certifications are a plus.

·        A commitment to working with mission-driven organizations and putting our clients’ needs first

·        2-4 years of experience in a professional setting

·        History of planning, facilitation, or project management a plus, but not required.

·        Excellent writing and communication ability is an essential requirement

·        Flexibility and creativity in confronting unexpected challenges

·        Highly responsive work style and positive attitude

·        Ability to multi-task and willingness to take on anything that may come up to get the job done

·        An understanding of and ability to maximize technology tools including Slack; Trello, and CRM systems like PipeDrive

What we offer in return:

·        Competitive salary ($40,000 - $55,000) commensurate with experience

·        Annual bonus dependent on company and individual performance

·        A flexible work/life balance

·        Paid vacation & sick time

·        Participation in professional industry organizations, conferences, and ongoing educational opportunities

·        Opportunity to visit exciting places and work with passionate, committed team members
