PURPOSE 

 

The Centralized Services Technician’s primary responsibility is to assist with maintenance and reporting for the device management systems utilized by Centralized Services. Additional responsibilities include tier one level support for other centralized systems (such as managed backup, spam filtering, antivirus and web content filtering) and other support requests and basic tasks by the Centralized Services Senior Engineer and Director of Technology Solutions. 

The Centralized Services Technician delivers value to Community IT clients by supporting the deployment, management and maintenance of IT systems that create customer wide standardization through scalability, allow for automation of processes, and provide proactive/predictive capabilities through meaningful and relevant alerting and event management. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

 Technical 

  1. Provide tier one operational support for the Centralized Services systems and IT platform 
  • Day to day administration of device management and monitoring services 
  • Follow established processes and procedures 
  • Monitor the platform and service boards 
  • Provide interactive support with clients to resolve issues with management agents. 
  • Monitor and remediate failed patching on agents 

2. Provide tier one level support to internal staff on a range of technology solutions including: 

  • Managed Backup 
  • Managed Antivirus 
  • EndPoint Management, patching policies, reporting, etc 
  • Spam Filtering 
  • Windows desktop computers 
  • macOS computers 
  • SNMP monitoring 

3. Continually improve the centralized platforms at the direction of the Director of Technology Solutions 

  • Update and develop PowerShell scripts to support automation policies 
  • Update and develop BASH and Python scripting for Addigy macOS device management 
  • Update and develop SQL queries to support reporting services 

4. Provide effective reporting and information about our managed networks to the service desk and IT Business managers 

 Professional 

  1. Communicate and collaborate effectively with other teams 
  • Assist with training and teaching the system 
  • Gather feedback 
  • Assist with client issues as needed 

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS 

 This position requires a 2 year degree in computer science or relevant job experience.  

  • Remote monitoring and management software such as SolarWinds N-Central or similar 
  • Supporting end users in a Windows environment 
  • Basic Windows Server OS experience preferred 
  • Basic Mac support experience preferred 
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting 
  • Experience with Python or BASH scripting preferred 
  • Ability to write basic SQL queries 
  • Able to work independently 
  • Strong attention to detail 
  • Strong sense of ownership
