Deputy Project Manager

M Powered Strategies is seeking a Project Manager for an exciting high profile health IT initiative with the federal government. In this role, candidates will support senior government leadership with project management responsibilities including schedule, WBS, risk management, budget support, data calls, meeting facilitation, and resource coordination. Candidates must have strong relationship-building skills in order to interface with the business, system owners, development teams, agencies, and joint efforts to coordinate work efforts.

Must Haves – Role Specific

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or management discipline (8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education)
  • 10 years of professional experience
  • Experience managing Information Technology projects
  • Ability to develop a project schedule and identify and manage dependencies across a large program
  • Must be well versed in life cycle and project management methodologies
  •  Must have experience in tracking costs, schedule and performance progress
  •  Must be able to identify and mitigate risks
  • Experience with MS Office products, including Microsoft Project
  • Excellent communication and relationship skills with the ability to work with several different personality types, engage teams and clients, and build strong relationships in person and virtually 
  • Ability to work independently within an evolving environment, including proactive outreach to stakeholders and creative recommendations to achieve project objectives
  • Experience interacting at the Executive/Senior level, and across teams/organizations with distinct cultures, internal processes, and complex dynamics
  • Robust analytical skills, comfortable with complexity and critical thinking, as well as  organized, detail and process-oriented individual with the ability to guide/track actions of a small team, and balance multiple priorities and roles 
  • Ability to create concise, clear, and compelling briefing materials and polished deliverables within tight timelines and for multiple audiences


Nice to Haves

  • Department of Veterans Affairs OI&T experience
  • PMP or similar project management certification
