POSITION OVERVIEW

The Principal Associate works together with our partners to examine, strengthen, and communicate the impact of early childhood services, infrastructure, and investments. The Principal Associate leads the development of deliverables that strengthen our partners’ approaches to equity-informed strategy and implementation. The Principal Associate also leads projects at SRC and contributes to proposal and project conceptualization. In addition, the Principal Associate builds relationships and ensures productive communication with clients and other partners. The Principal Associate contributes to team growth through supervision of associates. The Principal Associate supports SRC’s collegial and productive work climate and operations, and reports to one of SRC’s Directors.

PRIMARY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

·     Leads content efforts (lead the development of high-quality, responsive and equity-focused deliverables in our service areas of strategic planning, facilitation and thought partnership, and storytelling)

  • Manages projects (conceptualize and develop projects, create project management plan and task structure, lead communication with clients and stakeholders, oversee project staff and consultants and delegate project work)
  • Manages the growth and development of a cohort of associates (using SRC’s competencies and supervision process)
  • Contributes to development efforts (conceptualize, write, and manage proposals, maintain relationships and long-term partnerships with clients, and represent the organization through conference presentations, meeting attendance, and other external opportunities)
  • Positive contribution to SRC’s organizational culture (contribute to a positive work environment, collaborate with colleagues, support the organization’s overall mission, and participate in team meetings, professional learning opportunities, retreats, and other organization-wide events)

CORE QUALIFICATIONS      

  • Excellent writing, presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to develop project deliverables independently
  • Advanced degree in Early Childhood Education, Education Policy or related field preferred
  • At least 5 years of experience managing projects similar to SRC’s portfolio, including supervision of staff
  • A demonstrated commitment to equity for all children evidenced in past projects and work samples
  • Working understanding of key issues and trends in the early childhood education landscape
  • Creativity and a high degree of initiative to design and implement innovative solutions to complex challenges
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment, for a small, woman-owned firm
