Mental Health Therapist II Position - Children and Youth

JOB SUMMARY:

● Collect information about individuals or clients, using interviews, case histories, observational techniques, and other assessment methods. Observe and evaluate client's performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.

● Responsible for client evaluation including initial intake interview, formulating diagnosis, identifying appropriate treatment services. Obtain necessary releases, notify client, caregivers and care providers of diagnosis and initial recommendations and complete written narrative of evaluation.

● Identify psychological, emotional, or behavioral issues and diagnose disorders, using information obtained from interviews, tests, records, and reference materials. Address legal issues as needed.

● Provide mental health therapy to individuals, groups, or families to help them understand problems, define goals, and develop realistic action plans. Guide clients in the development of skills and strategies for living with mental health challenges.

● Evaluate the effectiveness of therapy or treatments and the accuracy and completeness of diagnoses, modifying plans and diagnoses as necessary.

● Document and maintain client records in electronic healthcare system within 24 hours of meeting with client to ensure compliance with agency and contract guidelines and confidentiality.

● Serve on the 24 hour crisis response team as a Designated Mental Health Professional.

● Collaborate with community partners to provide support and services to clients as needed, including The Wahkiakum County School District, The Family Health Center, Community Center, and Wahkiakum County Sheriff's office.

Qualifications

● A Master's degree in Behavioral Sciences, Social Work, Psychology, or equivalent, accredited degree; prefer 1+ years' experience in the mental health field (community health, social services, education, etc.).

● 1+ year of professional experience working with children and adolescents.

● Demonstrate the necessary attitudes, knowledge, and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in multi-cultural situations.

● Ability to drive to client’s homes within the community; we provide a company car during work hours. You must have a valid driver's license, and current automobile insurance and an acceptable driving record per county policy.

● Ability to visually assess safety within family homes.

● Support and uphold the mission, beliefs and values of Wahkiakum County Health and Human Services.

● Knowledge of Wraparound principles and practice.

Preferred Qualifications:

● Mental Health Professional (as defined by WAC 246-341-0200).

• Competitive compensation package with a starting wage of $21/hr -$25/hr based on experience - + overtime compensation for on call and afterhours crisis work.

• Small Case Loads - Clinicians typically have between 20-35 clients

• A warm collaborative team and supportive supervisors. Because we are such a small team, we look out for each other and do our best to support each other to help meet our personal and team goals.

• Medical, dental, & vision insurance, and retirement plans; including participation in the Washington State Public Employees Retirement System, and insurance covered under a composite rate structure (the same rate for a single person or a family of multiple people).

• Accrual of Sick and Vacation Leave as well as 2 floating holidays and 10.5 paid holidays (all major holidays including the day after Thanksgiving and half of Christmas Eve)

• Extensive training (examples: De-Escalation, Safety, WISe, BRS, CPR & First Aid, Suicide Assessment and Prevention, Trauma-focused CBT, and First Response).

• Representation and Benefits related to AFSCME Union Membership Local #1557

• We are an approved Washington Health Corps site for student loan repayment opportunities.
